If I had a backup and those options I may forego AppleCare as well. I don’t honestly know what Chase does for those cases - Do they use Asurian? Do they just give you a credit on your statement to buy a replacement? What’s the turnaround on any of those? That’s a calculus you’ll have to do and presumably have already done and are satisfied with it, given that you have a backup device to use in the interim. In your case your credit card gives you that. As I don’t have a backup device (quite frankly my 2012 is too old at this point and my 2020 M1 will be my new backup device moving forward) this is even more pronounced.īut that said, what I’m really buying is peace of mind and uptime, and like in your example, there’s a few different ways to buy that. So for me it’s vital that my devices last and, more importantly, if there is a failure that I can rectify that failure with immediacy. So to each their own, right? Right now my job does still expect me to travel, whether that’s to offices in my local area or flying out of state as needed.
